Water Meter Tips

Instructions on reading a water meter and checking for leaks

1. Find the meter on your property and remove the lid.
2. When you look into the jar, this is what you will see:

3. Your reading on the meter is the number under Cubic Feet.
4. Meters are measured in cubic feet.
5. One cubic foot is 7.48 gallons.
6. If a leak is suspected, the blue (sometimes red) star will be turning.
7. As long as this star is turning, there is still a leak.

9. Make sure the lid is secure to your meter when closing.
